Walking this path is not easy, and out of a desire to belong, I keep trying to veer off into other paths where there seems to be more fellowship. But I keep coming up against rejection, time and time again.
I’m realizing that maybe sometimes getting rejected by others is the Spirit’s way of letting us know that we don’t need to go down the same path others are going, but to keep on my straight and narrow path.
This “Straight and Narrow Path” isn’t speaking about a singular religious path, a “right belief system” as opposed to a “wrong belief system,” but it is a metaphor pointing to a spiritual truth: while every path may be different, to stray from the guidance of the Spirit—the path Spirit is leading us down as individuals—is to fall away from the straight and narrow path that leads to Life.
My road doesn’t look like your road, and your path isn’t the same as mine; but if we both follow the Spirit’s guidance, we will both be on the straight and narrow path that leads to Life.
