A thought: if we are warned to not reject the truth of Christianity because of a “few bad apples” or the occasional “nut case” (although, there are many “bad apples” and “nut cases” within Christian churches, many of whom are being tolerated and excused and protected even as they abuse others, but that’s a different thought), then why would I reject wisdom and truth outside of Christianity because of the many who also misuse such wisdom?
Not a really powerful thought, I don’t suppose, but it’s meaningful to me, because there have been some very bad things that have happened to us by the hands of self-proclaimed occultists of various types, both the dark and the light.
But there have also been really bad things that have happened to us by the hands of self-proclaimed Christians on both sides of the spectrum (by this I mean, the “fundamentalists” on one side of the spectrum, and the “esoterics” on the other).
We have also suffered attack and deception from Spiritual Beings who sometimes come disguised in various ways, and who are always seeking a way to bring confusion and harm to humanity in whatever way possible.
But I’m learning to not reject something just because bad people with huge egos and selfish motives identify as that particular something. “Identifying as” is not the same thing as actually being. And if I rejected any form of Spirituality because of other people who are abusive or hurtful — or because of any Negative Energy or Entity, for that matter — then I’d have to reject all, and I can’t reject Spirituality any more than I can reject myself.
