Privacy Policy

Howdy!

This website, https://diaryofachristianmystic.com/, hosted by WordPress, collects little bits of information, most of which I (or you) will never see or even know about. Most of these pieces of data are collected for the sole purpose of you visiting and reading this website, and for this website to function properly. But for those who are interested, here is all the pertinent legal information for you to peruse, in alphabetical order.

Notes on Increasing Your Internet Privacy

⇒ To reduce tracking by this or any other website, I recommend using a more secure search engine, such as https://duckduckgo.com/spread.

⇒ To surf the web more anonymously, I recommend using a VPN (Virtual Private Network). This website explains about VPNs and lists some options on VPNs to try.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on this website, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies are also set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Comments

Comments are submitted via Jetpack, and Jetpack collects the commenter’s name, email address, and site URL (if provided via the comment form), timestamp, and IP address. This information is stored in cookies. Learn more about these cookies.

Additionally, a jetpack.wordpress.com IFrame receives the following data: WordPress.com blog ID attached to the site, ID of the post on which the comment is being submitted, commenter’s local user ID (if available), commenter’s local username (if available), commenter’s site URL (if available), MD5 hash of the commenter’s email address (if available), and the comment content.

Akismet (also owned by Automattic) is also enabled on this site, and the following information is sent to the service for the sole purpose of spam checking: commenter’s name, email address, site URL, IP address, and user agent. (See also in this privacy policy: Spam Checking.)

My Comments Policy

Although this blog does collect certain information (see above) in order for you to comment, I will not use that information collected by this blog to contact you without your permission (for example, I will not contact you via email if you choose to comment on this blog), nor will I sell or give away such information, except in the case of a security threat. For example, if your comment is deemed to be threatening the life or safety of myself or another, the information collected about you by this website will be given to the proper authorities.

1. All comments are held for review. There are no exceptions.

2. Before commenting, please review my disclaimers. Any comment that does not reflect an understanding of my disclaimers will not be posted. For example, if you are asking for advise or help, your comment will not be posted.

3. Please assume that any comment you submit on this website or on any of my social media pages is being or will be posted publicly, so be mindful of what you say and what you share. Comments containing information that is usually considered to be private (telephone numbers, physical addresses, email addresses, etc.) will be deleted. (Your email is required in order to post a comment on this website, but it is not shared publicly.)

4. If you change your mind about posting a comment on this website, you can reply to the same comment that you want deleted, and ask that I delete your comments for you. While I can’t make any guarantees due to miscommunication, misunderstanding, technical error, illness, or the like, I will respect your privacy and comply to the best of my ability and as quickly as I am able.

5. Do not leave URL’s (links) in your comments.

6. Leaving a comment as your page/website/business is encouraged, and I appreciate you linking to my blog from yours (also known as a ping back). But unless the article or post is specifically encouraging the sharing of such information, the comments section is not a place to overtly advertise or promote your own blogs, websites, social media channels, businesses, works, products, etc., nor to advertise or promote other’s blogs, websites, social media channels, business, works, products, etc.

7. SPAM comments (repeated comments and/or comments that are for the purposes of mass advertisement, aka, “junk messages”) will be deleted and the user banned or blocked at my discretion.

8. I wish that I were fluent in all languages, but regrettably, I am not, and translation tools don’t always work well. Therefore, please comment in English, using your own translation tools if needed, otherwise your comments may not be posted.

9. While you are welcome to respectfully express your opinion and give feedback, any comment that I deem to be hateful, rude, bullying, quarrelsome, or otherwise disrespectful to myself or to others will not be posted or will be deleted. Users who continually violate this policy will be banned or blocked. Please do your best to share and speak with kindness and respect, even if you strongly and irrevocably disagree with me or with others. I promise to do my best, too.

10.  Messages, comments, or emails that are threatening to the peace, safety, and lives of myself, my loved ones, or others, will be reported to the proper authorities, and the user will be banned or blocked.

Contact Me

I do not have a contact form on this website, nor do I display any information on this website whereby you may directly and privately contact me via this website, so there are no privacy concerns.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Gravatar Hovercards

This feature will send a hash of the user’s email address (if logged in to the site or WordPress.com — or if they submitted a comment on the site using their email address that is attached to an active Gravatar profile) to the Gravatar service (also owned by Automattic) in order to retrieve their profile image.

Infinite Scroll

In order to record page views via WordPress.com Stats (which must be enabled for page view tracking here to work) with additional loads, the following information is used: IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code.

Page views will be tracked with each additional load (i.e. when you scroll down to the bottom of the page and a new set of posts loads automatically).

Likes

(These features are only accessible to users logged in to WordPress.com.)

Post Likes: In order to process a post like action, the following information is used: IP address, WordPress.com user ID, WordPress.com username, WordPress.com-connected site ID (on which the post was liked), post ID (of the post that was liked), user agent, timestamp of event, browser language, country code.

Mobile Theme

A cookie (akm_mobile) is stored for 3.5 days to remember whether or not a visitor of the site wishes to view its mobile version. Learn more about this cookie.

Protect

In order to check login activity and potentially block fraudulent attempts, the following information is used: attempting user’s IP address, attempting user’s email address/username (i.e. according to the value they were attempting to use during the login process), and all IP-related HTTP headers attached to the attempting user.

Failed login attempts (these include IP address and user agent) are tracked. WordPress also sets a cookie (jpp_math_pass) for 1 day to remember if/when a user has successfully completed a math captcha to prove that they’re a real human. Learn more about this cookie.

Any of the visitor-chosen search filters and query data is used by this website in order to process a search request on the WordPress.com servers.

Spam Checking

Akismet is enabled on this site, and the contact form submission data — IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message — is submitted to the Akismet service (also owned by Automattic) for the sole purpose of spam checking. The actual submission data is stored in the database of the site on which it was submitted (DiaryOfAChristianMystic.com), and is emailed directly to the owner (Loren Grace) of the form. This email will include the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name, email address, website, and message.

Video Hosting

For video play tracking via WordPress.com Stats, the following information is used: viewer’s IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. If Google Analytics is enabled, video play events will be sent there, as well.

WordPress.com Stats

For the purpose of tracking statistics pertinent to this website, WordPress uses the following data for each user: IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code.

Important: I, Loren Grace, as the site owner, do not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, I can see that a specific post has 285 views, but I cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Stats logs—containing visitor IP addresses and WordPress.com usernames (if available)—are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature.

For the purpose of tracking statistics pertinent to this website, WordPress also uses the following data: post and page views, video plays (if videos are hosted by WordPress.com), outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms, and country. When this module is enabled, Jetpack also tracks performance on each page load that includes the Javascript file used for tracking stats. This is exclusively for aggregate performance tracking across Jetpack sites in order to make sure that our plugin and code is not causing performance issues. This includes the tracking of page load times and resource loading duration (image files, Javascript files, CSS files, etc.). The site owner has the ability to force this feature to honor DNT settings of visitors. By default, DNT is currently not honored.

If you disagree with any part of this privacy policy, do not interact with this website in any way.

I reserve the right to update this policy at any time. By using this website after I post any changes, you agree to accept those changes, regardless of whether you have reviewed them or not.
